January Newsletter

Hey everyone!  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break!

Dance classes resume this Monday, Jan 14.  I can’t wait to get back in the studio.  This time of year is always busy and exciting as we start gearing up for our Spring Concert in May.  Right now I have the concert penciled in for May 18.  I hope to have it at Heritage High School again and I’m not sure what their schedule is.  I’ll be getting in touch with them very soon and I’ll let you know the moment that things are finalized.  Dancers will begin working on concert dances in February and will have completed dances by the end of March.

January Tuition
January tuition is only half and is due the day your dancer returns to class.  After the 24th, there will be a $10 fee for all late payments.

Costumes and Recital Fees
This year’s recital fee will be $25 per participating dancer and will go to cover the costs of renting a theater and producing the show.  Recital fees mean that we will not have to charge for tickets to come see the show!  However, the fee does not include the price of the costumes.  Costumes will be $60 for each class this year as we are going to order from costume companies rather than trying to piece costumes together locally.  (The Thursday 5-7yr Ballet/Jazz class will only purchase one costume, but will perform two dances.)

I know fees and costume prices can add up so I’m splitting the cost into two different payments.  The $25 recital fee and at least half of your costume fees are due Jan 31.  The remainder must be paid on or before February 28.  You are welcome to pay the full balance on January 31 if you like.

Next year I hope to have the first payment due before Christmas so that we can spread them out a little more.

Bring a Friend Week
It’s still not too late to register for class and still participate in the Spring Concert!  With that in mind, we’re going to have another Bring a Friend Week on February 4-9.  The one we had in the Fall was really fun and I think the dancers had a good time showing their friends what they do when they go to dance class.  Dancers are welcome to bring a friend (or two!) that week.  Neighbors, cousins, Girl Scout troop buddies, and friends from school are all welcome!

Thanks so much for an incredibly successful Fall Semester and I’m so looking forward to having your dancers back in class next week!  See you soon!

Last day of class!

I can’t believe it, but tonight is our last night of class for our 2011-2012 Dance Year. Adult Modern is at 7:15 if you’d like one last chance at the Gotye combination we’ve been working on.

Zumba classes will be cancelled this Saturday so that we can prepare for recital, Wednesday evening as I will possibly be out of town, and the following Saturday (the 26th) for Memorial day weekend. After that, we’ll be back on track!

Summer Session runs from June 4 to July 20, with no classes the week of July 4. You may register at any time, including at recital, and I look forward to seeing you all in class!

Exciting News!

We’re adding a 3-4 year old Creative Movement class on Saturday mornings from 11-11:45am! These classes will begin on April 14. Let me know if you’re interested in registering and spread the word to any potential little dancers! (I know this is kind of a strange time to add a class as it will end at the end of this semester like all of our other classes, but this is a great way for us to gauge interest and get dancers started ASAP!)

We will NOT have class this Saturday as it is Easter weekend, but I’ll see you all at Zumba® tonight!

Congratulations to Morgan and Eryca for receiving gold medals this weekend at Encore DCS in Gatlinburg! Morgan also received first place in her division.  Way to go girls!

Stay tuned for recital info to come.  I don’t have final paperwork yet, but it’s looking like Riversong Dance Studio’s first annual Spring Recital will be on May 19 at 1pm at Heritage High School.  I promise more info regarding costumes, dress rehearsal, etc is on its way!

Is it March Already?!?

Wait a minute, how is it March? I feel like I blinked and 4 months blew by!

Things are going well here at, RDS. We’ve added students since January and we’re busy learning recital dances! I am tentatively looking at recital being May 19. This is a little earlier than I would have like liked, but you all have busy schedules! If anyone has a big conflict on that date that I don’t know about, please let me know ASAP since I’m looking into locations right now.

Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer temperatures and I’ll see you soon!

There’s still time to register!

It’s not too late to register for classes and still participate in recital! Unfortunately, that time is rapidly approaching. If you have a dancer in your life who has not yet registered, come on down and sign up.

Our current schedule is available by clicking the Schedule tab above. As always, you’re more than welcome to try out a class before you register.

Hope to see you soon!
