Classes resume Jan. 11 and Highland Dancing!

Happy New Year everyone! I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone and getting back to dancing!  Classes resume Monday of next week, January 11.

Just as a friendly reminder, January tuition is full price and if you did not pay your 50% costume deposit before the break, that needs to be paid ASAP. I’ll be measuring everyone and ordering costumes SOON!  I want to get them done earlier this year so that we can also get pictures done earlier.

More exciting news! Ms. Claire is going to offer a Beginners Highland Dancing class on Monday nights from 6:45-7:45 for dancers ages 8 and up! Registration is open now online, so you are welcome to go ahead and register now if you’re interested. We need at least 3 dancers to make the class and ideally we’d have a few more dancers enrolled to make it more fun. This class will begin when the others resume on January 11, so sign up soon!  To register online, just click the Schedule tab above and follow the link on that page to our current schedule!

  1. My daughter is interested in dancing but has never taken any classes. She is 8. What is highland dancing and would this be a good class to start in?

    • Hi, Lisa! Highland is a style of Scottish dancing, similar to Irish step dance. I posted a few videos on our Facebook page today since you’re not the only one asking this question. 🙂

I typically encourage dancers, especially beginners, to take ballet or jazz as their first class, but Highland might be good if that’s truly what she’s interested in since it’s pretty different from the other classes she could take with us.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
